Beyond Picky Eating: Navigating Complex Feeding and Visual Impairments

June 23 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

In this workshop, Cindy Esquivias, Speech-Language Pathologist, will share how children who are visually impaired and medically complex often present with feeding challenges that extend beyond “picky eating.” Many of these children have additional medical considerations such as prematurity, neurological differences, gastrointestinal conditions, prolonged hospitalizations, G-tube dependence, and oral aversion, all of which can significantly impact the development of safe and positive feeding experiences. This workshop will provide an overview of common feeding and swallowing concerns in this population, with particular attention to the interaction between visual impairment and complex medical histories.
