Beyond the Diagnosis: Helping Your Doctor Understand Your Loved One with Autism

October 21 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Dr Adwoa Osei. Dr. Adwoa Osei, MD, FAAP, is a board-certified pediatrician who specializes in caring for children and youth with Autism and other neurodevelopmental differences. Known for her compassionate, family-centered approach, Dr. Osei is passionate about helping families navigate the healthcare system and ensuring children are understood as individuals with unique strengths, challenges, and support needs. She works closely with families and healthcare providers to improve communication, build trust, and create more positive healthcare experiences. Description: Doctor visits are often brief, but the decisions made during them can have a lasting impact. Join Dr. Adwoa Osei and representatives from CAL MAP for an engaging discussion on the Autism Color Wheel and how it can help families communicate what makes their loved one unique. Learn practical strategies for preparing appointments, sharing the information that matters most, and building stronger partnerships with healthcare providers. Discover how CAL MAP supports physicians in providing Autism-informed care, hear insights from other families, and leave with tools you can use to help ensure your healthcare team understands the whole person—not just the diagnosis. If you require a close caption service or an American Sign Language interpreter, please send an email with the event title, date, and time to our Program Coordinator, Anel Ibarra, events@ieautism.org at least seven business days before the webinar is to take place.
